      I AM  GETTING  MESSAGES  FROM  BEARSHARE  SAYING  THAT  A  NEW  VERSION  IS  AVAILABLE  AND  DO  I  WANT  TO  UPGRADE OR  DO  I  WANT  TO  BE  ASKED  AGAIN  IN  7  DAYS  ;

  SOrry  about  the  caps ,   my  eyes  are  bad  .

Try using the magnifier (set it higher than 100%) and maybe you can read the previous replies better? (because the answer is already given IMHO)

Again, Runt, your messages are from Bearshare, which has NOTHING to do with winmx

The last REAL version of winMX is 3.54b4

The attacks mentioned previously and in many other places are the reason for the peculiar search results, while the listings with screwy looking characters are for foreign language fonts (asian mostly) that your PC is not set to display

technically its winmx being written for an ansi OS lacking unicode support.... not the computer or modern OSens fault... win95 needs some serious tweaking to support unicode and even then its still a hack... dont forget how old winmx really is...

but bluey is right runt.... 3.53 is the last 'stable' and 3.54 beta 4 is the 'newest' beta and since frontcode is gone its also the very last release.... there are no further versions... (you can however go back in time but its not really recommended...)
