New WinMX availability and Peer Block question

Hello all

When will the new version of WinMX become available?  What will it be called so I know to download the right version.

Also, I am using Peer Block with two lists  -- PB's own P2P list and WinMX's own P2P threat list.  Is it necessary to have both, or are they virtually the same?

I heard the new winmx is due very soon maybe this month or early February

I dont think the new client will be ready for release that early, I would suggest it's at least a few months away.

We don't recommend using PB's own lists. Historically they tended to block a lot of IP's which we not a threat to your privacy.
It caused a few issues when they added ranges of domestic IP's, and effectively cut off part of the community.

The list recommended on our main page is based on a public primary threats list but has a number of ranges stripped out.
