Ants,  a solution is being worked on currently,  don't give up on it just yet.  The hackers have perhaps won the battle  but not the war on this one.

hackers? isn't it the patriots and the giants?

but seriously hackers? whoever is behind this are not hackers.
Winning, if you want to look at it that way, there are no winners in this.
The winmx comunity has been fighting against something since its inception. Like everything else, this too shall pass and there will be something else.

you sure? .... yes that screenshot is real (i just took it)... usernames censored for privacy reasons...

http://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/opennap.html

do note tho that i am not connected to the wpn at all in that screenshot... so cannot search it and cannot join rooms... (there are ways around that while getting only opennap results however... ask if you are curious...)

result count looks pretty promising too dont you think? and 90% of it is from winmx users...

I keep thinking how I can respond to this, and to be honest it deserves no response. Yeah sure they have had a un-intended lengthy period of time to behave like bastards, but considering where right at the point of having done with them, crying the hackers have won, when in fact the network hasn't detracted at all since before Christmas and Open Nap is pretty over busy this weekend clocking over 92 transfers a hour, id say they have far from won other than piss off a few folks that cant work round the crap that they need. Maybe the design team could put up some new screen shots, so you can see how close we are. Ill forward the idea on see if i can keep that hope candle lit blowing in the wind.

In all fairness disconnecting to the wpn and then saying "see it s doing good" is a bit like comparing apples and oranges, sure if you disconnect to the winmx network you are still using the program but it's doing it's searches elsewhere

a fair argument... but my point was to show that 'they're still there' ... the users that is... granted we are 'manning the lifeboats' but thats one hell of a flotilla of little boats there dont you agree? ... and when the rms winmx.exe finally hits rock bottom and the mx clone pulls up you're gonna get a hell of a lot of ppl climbing back aboard... to.. once again.. use the wpn.. a working wpn...

I have the feeling that ANTS maybe wants the Hackers to be winning or something..... Fact is WinMX works fine 75% to 85% of the time for me. When I do get floods I disconnect and reconnect till I find clean results. Whats so hard about that?

Why aren't trolling topics like this one deleted on sight ?

Winmxworld should deal with this kind of mis-information propaganda in a more swift and decisive way. The presence of topics like this one in the front page and in capitals give people on all sides the wrong idea and cause waves, which is what this one is trying to do. While you're at it, you may want to get rid of any accounts created just to post stuff like this.

We need public forums to inform, not to mis-inform. Clean up the trash, please.

I tried using Mute and Filetopia during the last WinMX outage years back.  Mute (Ant) was horrible -- it suffered a similar problem as WinMX.  A search would yield mostly porn and downloads were extremely slow.  Filetopia on the other hand gave good search results but the program kept crashing.
WinMX is by far the most stable program, and it's unfortunate that it was hollowed out from the inside by a few malcontents.

Lol @ Harold!
In this not so perfect world, corporations use the strategy of bad publicity meaning its still publicity, in return being good for business.

Just to clarify, THE HACKERS HAVE NOT WON

Because I for one am not sure that constitutes trolling, looking at his other posts on the forum, he is a winmx user who is perhaps confused about the situation and looking for updates/answers.

We have issued a warning to harold for abusive pm sending now.

As for deleting topics on sight - that's something we do not do unless it's spam or clearly not related to winmx at all.

Everyone is free to post thier opinion as long as thys respect others and don't get abusive.
As this got out of hand here the topic is now locked.
