EU Copyright Crap - Progress Made In Paris Talks

Some EU Jobsworth has proclaimed progress in recent discussions regarding the future of copyright within the EU bloc.

The final version of a controversial new EU copyright law has been agreed after three days of talks in France.
Article 13 of the EU Copyright Directive states services such as YouTube could be held responsible if their users upload copyright-protected movies and music.

The EU last introduced new copyright laws in 2001. The EU says it wants to make "copyright rules fit for the digital era", but not everyone agrees with the proposed changes.

If the UK leaves the EU with a deal, and the directive becomes law, it would apply to the UK during any transition period. In a few weeks, MEPs will vote to decide whether it becomes law.

I feel its right to call the whole Idea of "modernising copyright" crap today because it seems no matter what deal is settled with a time limitation on the copyright protection be it 5 years or 500 the greedy rights holders still try to leverage every last cent from your clenched hand and use any method possible to defraud you the consumer, that my friends is crap.

When will the consumer ever get a fair deal ? and it is even possible with so many vested interests scared in regard to losing their slice of the revenue pie.

I dont see any representation for the rights of us ordinary folks in all of this mess and even less interest from politicians whom simply want a quiet life and nice free holidays from media group executives, thankfully we can lose these fake representatives at intervals but when there are so many of them all after something for nothing you have to ask should we bother to interact with such obvious moral corruption?

I believe the answer is a strong no.

What makes copyright law untenable is the gross unfairness of it, the deal is simple as proposed originally: protection is given on a work for a specific time period , unfortunately corrupt politicians globally have allowed a few vested interest groups to move the goal posts so far in favour of the "rights holders" (aka fat cat investors monopolising artistic talent of any description), that theres no  way anyone can in their lifetime enjoy some of the protected works for free as the law was supposed to foster.

With such a situation in place there can never be a deal with the public as our lifetimes are of limited span and the protection time in most countries seems to be more than an average figure, a simple claim of protecting the work so the artist can create more for the public consumption falls at the first hurdle when its clear that under their own "rules" we cant actually sample/view/hear  the artistic output in the first place let alone when we have expired, a bad contract with the public is one the public take no notice of, greed begets greed it seems.
