Have you forwarded ports in your router? In any multiplecomputer situation you will have one a visit to www.portforward.com will usually yeild instructions for your specific hardware, if you're using Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing as your router I believe it's still possible & on XP service pack 2 (& presumably therefore Vista) it would be done through the firewall on the machine with the direct connection.  I am unfortunately unfamilliar with the process if that is your setup.

I have vista ultimate on this new desktop and XP pro on my laptop (where I began my winmx days) I've installed on my vista pc and am experiencing the same problem (users time out in my que - but I can download just fine) I went to the firewall and "allowed" winmx all access but I cannot seem to fix the problem of allowing users to upload any of my files. I get no error messages and can't seem to find what I can do in order to correct this issue..... does anyone have ANY suggestions at all ?
Thank you in advance for any help you might provide.

I'm not familliar with vista, but, i strongly suspect it will have a similar firewall to the xp one, it may be worth checking ports are opened for winmx there too

I'm a happy WinMx user for a very long time now but recently I upgraded my computer to Windows Vista Home Premium. After installing Vista WinMx is able to connect and I can download but.... people who are in my que can't connect, it says: Waiting for incoming connection until Time Out. I am using a Siemens Gigaset router and I have the ports opened (I re-checked everything but it is still the same as it was when I used XP). Is this a known Vista problem??
My pc:
Asrock mobo
Pentium 4 3,4Ghz (650)
2048 Mb DDR SDRAM
2x 250 GB IDE Hdd's

Anyone know a good solution for my problem?

Thnx,
Eric
