its a crappy Ares product, and of course, there's a paid 'pro' version...

always someone ripping off something, somewhere!

I don't know what you're talking about involving ares... the Ares p2p program is well made, open source, spyware free, and there is no "pro version".  Perhaps you meant limewire?

There could be an alternative way around that. Ive noticed my ISP throttles to 13kb up after 20 seconds per port per connection. i can have three uploads running at 13kb but i cant get one to stay at 39. So if mx were to attempt to make a secondary or even tertiary connection to another user you could have three uplinks and still have the ability to be backwards compatible to the versions we have now. But then again idk the code of mx. trying to make a second transfer connection could cause some issue with the current version. Im sure Ghostship and a few others would know more on this

There are many peer to peer networks that use encryption in some form gigatribe sounds no different than waste which is open src or filetopia/tesla amongst others, the main problem with implementing such transfer encryption is that to do so will destroy compatibility between winmx users, if in the future folks opt for security first and foremost then it may be possible to encrypt the final leg of the journey but for now its just something we discuss in theory rather than with any actual implementation plan.

I would prefer waste over gigatribe too btw as gigatribe has two versions and one is a pay version and we try to support open src/cc  programs and media in preference to pay p2p.

hi, dont know if anyone will ever see this,I dont even know where to put this so I do hope someone does see it. I use rogers for isp,and im not bragging, im in toronto canada my downloads are fast but my upload speed is throttled to only 8.00. So heres my idea, I also use gigatribe which is also a peer2peer, and I have no probs with up or download speed, its very fast both ways, gigatribe uses blowfish encryption with 256 bit key.

My question is, can winmx be altered to incorporate this technology too?
