A few days ago I realised my PC can't play DVDs anymore... well, not all; it plays original DVDs fine, whether it be movies or music.
But files I burned on a DVD, it won't play them anymore. The PC just says they're blank. Strangely, my DVD player plays them on tv.
Now I don't know what's going on, and I have lots of files I wish to burn on DVDs to clear off some space from my drive.
Even stranger, it plays CDs normally...
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi earth
theres something i want you to do for me please
the my computor icon on your desktop
right click on it and go to properties
in the new box click on hardwear tab and then click on device manger
in the new box you will see DVD/CD-ROM Drives
click the + and you should then see your rom drive
right click on your rom drive in the list and click on update driver
also click on scan for hardwear changes for this rom drive
once you have done this try a dvd in your dvd drive again and see if it works this time?
if not let me know as there are a few other things we can also try

Hi.
Your suggestions haven't worked.
What else could we try?

Have you tried a drive cleaning disk? DVDR or RW don't read quite as easily as commercial DVDs do, it could simply be dust build-up on the optics.
