Title: WinMX 2007
Post by: Sophosaurus on September 06, 2006, 07:49:32 pm
1st link listed by Google for this Query:

http://www.sharewareconnection.com/winmx-2007.htm (http://www.google.com/)

Site contains Link to https://www.winmxworld.com as Homepage-Link.
Site contains Download-Link to http://www.sharewareconnection.com/download-winmx-2007-from-sharecon.html (http://www.google.com/)

Downloaded File "install.exe", file-length 71,2 KB (72.950 Bytes),
it's a Nullsoft Installer V2.11 (2.12?), which first tries to install so-called "Free Offers" from SoftwareRevenue.org.
No Choosable options, you can accept or cancel all. I cancelled and recommend avoiding such stuff.

those things are all over the place, scams the lot of them

Author Url: https://www.winmxworld.com
Program Info Url: https://www.winmxworld.com/

is trying to sound like a reputable "this is for real" download, when clearly it is not

i would do a classic "remember to download winmx from winmxgroup.comand not some random website you find" - but chances are if you're here, it's either too late you've already made the mistake, or you know better

Someone asked in hideout, so i looked at it and posted.
I shouldn't use clickable links for such. Unfortunately there's no edit option for users.

if you post a URL it automatically makes it clickable, just use something like http://trouble.url.com/ to make it non-clickable :-)

(of course you could just make it not appear to be a URL in various ways so it isn't made clickable, but setting it so it goes to google is my preferred method)
