Title: Set default player
Post by: redeyedfrog on November 01, 2006, 08:49:20 pm
Hi all,

I would prefer not to use Windows Media Player to preview MP3 files.

Is there a way to set a different default player in WinMX?  I cannot find this among the Settings.

I want to use Zoom player.

Thanks.

all you do is load any prefered player and there should be options in that player to make it the default player, i wud also deny access in your firewll for windows media player if you dont want to use it, then it can not search the net for iformation, also it will tend to copyright any CD you burn as it has that feture built in.

Well, I thought I had already done that, but it turns out all I had done was tell Limewire which player to use.  I've now set my preferred player as the default for MP3s and a few other formats.  Thanks.

I don't use a firewall.  I've tried several methods for disabling/uninstalling Windows Media Player -- nothing worked.  It's very annoying.

Thanks again.

In you have windows XP, then do this:
Go to any Mp3 file, right click it and go to properties, You'll see the application (In your case, it should be windows media player) with with the file opens and there will be a button called change in it. Click it and then select the application you want to use to open the file. Click apply and ok and then you should be done.

My recommendation: Winmap

Cheers :P
