Title: Connection Issue
Post by: kath2583 on March 27, 2007, 03:33:13 am
I'm not real familiar with using this so please help me.  I've always had dialup until recently .. now I have DSL.  On the connection page, dialup is checked because that's all I've ever used here.  When I try to change to a primary connection since I now have DSL.. it says connection unknown and won't let me change it.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

HI Kath2583,

First of all welcome to the site.  In WinMX settings > Internet Connection please see the line types on the right and tick DSL there.  Now go to Incoming TCP in WinMX and tick the top option 'Listen on port 6699...'  Then go to In/Out UDP and tick that top Option 'Send and Recieve on port 6257...'

Now you can restart and get a primary connection, However, this alone may not give you a working Primary because most DSL Modems now days have a built in router that will need configured as well.  Here is a page to help you along with that task too.

Of course as with anything.. if you have questions along this process just post back here.

If you are using vista then do this:

For everyone with vista and problems:

1.> Close winmx.

2.> Go to your winmx folder and delete a file called OLEDLG.DLL.

3.> Now download the file on this link:
https://forum.winmxworld.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4360.0;attach=1400
and put it in the folder in which the winmx.exe file is there

4.> If some connections problems occur, remove the firewall rules of winmx and re add them.

5.> Restart winmx and try connections on primary and secondary.

Cheers :P

If you are not using vista, can you give more info on :
what router/modem you have?
Your OS?
what firewalls you have?
What patch are you using? (hat does it say on the update bar, which is next to the ignore button)

Cheers :P
