Did anybody ever come up with a solution to this problem, which seemed to be a topic of discussion back in September of 2006? I could not find a resolution in any of those threads.
If they did, would someone post a link to the solution, it's back again. My WinMX app stopped opening in May of 2008, displaying the 'Missing Unicows Wrapper' message. I have tried all of the download, reinstall options I can think of, but can't even get any of the versions to successfully install, let alone open.
Any help will be appreciated.

Close your WinMx.
Right-click WinMx.exe, and then click Properties.
In the Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab, and then clear the "Run this program in compatibility mode" box.
Click OK.
Then start WinMx.

That might work, if I could get one of the patched versions to install. However, neither the 3.54 or 3.53 patched versions would get past the 'Missing unicows; message. Did get 2.2 to install, but have not been able to get connected. Right clicked anyways, there isn't any Compatability tab in the Properties dialog. Remember, this is 98SE we're dealing with.
Any suggestions to get 2.2 to connect?

HI just4fun
Here is the file you need
https://www.winmxworld.com/files/unicows.dll
This normally should be placed in the WinMX folder, if you dont have one yet make one and try this and let me know.
C:\Program Files\WinMX is the default location.

2.2 is a old patch, it points at old DNS's that are no longer active, also 2.2 doesnt filter fakes.
If you pop over to patch.winmxconex.com you can pick any winmx version that has the new patch (3.0). This blocks flooders. And filters fakes out your searchs, It also uses the new DNS's lol and if you use the 98 installer you should be online without even the need for a reboot.
