I know the OpenNap protocol is a bit dated at this point, and the majority of WinMX users likely don't make use of the servers, but I was curious if someone had an updated report on which servers were still in play as of 2009. Additionally, and I don't know if anyone has researched this before, it would be valuable to find out which nets are linked and result in the "another user with this name is already online" error.
Currently, I'm working with the servers last posted by SamSeeSam, but of the 45 named server nets in my .wsx file, I can only get around 18 of them to connect at one time. Of the remaining 27 nets, 13 yield the "another user" error, and the remaining 14 either result in timeouts, connection refused, or, and this is specifically in the case of Bunnymatrix, the "Valid name, no data of requested type" error. I used to be able to get 25 nets online back in 2007, but it looks like time has taken a toll on those operating the servers. That, and as far as 2009 goes, the depressed global economy.
If anyone is interested in this subject, and has some updated information on the still active OpenNap servers, I would appreciate hearing such.
TIA for any replies --

I agree with what NekoChan says, and add that there are Opennap servers which accuse you of trying to share porn the instant you try to connect, who call you names, won't allow some files to be shared because they are too small, or say that they only work for members but don't say how to become a member.
Opennap may be old hat, but as a person who often seeks obscure files, I need all the opportunities for success I can get.

Thanks, Valor. This is helpful. I'll make a comparison with my current .wsx file and what Gotnap has.
