Over 7,500 New Porn BitTorrent Lawsuits Filed

There were 3 new batches of BitTorrent lawsuits filed in the United States in the last two days, totaling exactly 7,798 unnamed defendants. This is the latest string in what’s becoming a very popular business model: suing customers suspected of file-sharing with the hopes of making up for lost revenue. In the last month, including this latest batch, almost 16,000 BitTorrent and file-sharing related lawsuits were filed. Let's break down the latest players.

The first, and by far the largest batch is On The Cheap, LLC vs Does 1-5,011. According to court records, On The Cheap, LLC is also known as Tru Filth, LLC, and filed their complaint via the law offices of Ira M. Siegle in the Northern California District Court. What were they sharing? "Danielle Straub Raw" - a 'celebrity' sex tape staring one of the "Real Housewives of New Jersey". Unfortunately this complaint wasn't available at the time of publication.

The third batch of law suits, also filed by the same firm, targets 1,568 Does sharing "Miss Big Ass Brazil #4". The production company involved in this case is Third World Media, LLC, also filed their complaint in the Northern District of California.

The second batch of lawsuits is still quite sizable. The production company Patrick Collins is once again filing lawsuits, this time against 1,219 unnamed John Does. Ira Siegle's law office is once again involved, filing the complaint in California's Northern district court. The defendants are accused of sharing "Real Female Orgasms #8".

Ok, they may become a target for a 4-chan 'interest group' but it brings to mind a kind of tech question...

What if people could use a kind of 'IP spoofer' where outside observers would see what appears to be traffic going FROM an IP address back TO the same IP address...

Or, better yet, all the traffic going TO the IP address of said law firms (heh heh) or even to the web site of a Cartel member...
Does such a critter exist, or would it simply be creative use of proxies?
