Anyone shed light on why I am unable to browse users? The tab opens shows its browsing but when I go to click on it nothing happens? Any ideas?

Try right clicking in the coloured bar at the top of the WinMX program window & pick "Reset all Windows" in the context menu that comes up, you can do this right clicking on the icon in the system tray too.

Sometimes the browse whois or pm/chat windows get stuck, this fixes it, this happens more often if you run MxMonitor or LeechHammer.

I think I understood that's the problem that you're having, if I'm wrong and it's that the window opens but the files never load, suspect your ports of being blocked, misconfigured or not forwarded properly.

that wasnt the problem i was having - I would click the user to browse the tab would appear at the top it would seem to browse but no window would open and I would click on the tab and nothing happened. I just simply reinstalled using the new patch once again and all is fine at this time. Very weird but all is fine now. Thanks!

That right click & reset all windows trick would (should) have fixed that problem.
