WinMx Displays in tiny window
« on: March 16, 2011, 07:41:00 pm »
Need some help with this one.

My winMx 3.54 beta vr. starts but the window doesn't open up.  By that I mean I see the window on the desktop, but  only the  three button in the upper right corner,(Min, EXP, Close) are viewable.  When I click on the the middle expand button, it won't respond, and when I try to manually enlarge the window by dragging the sides it won't enlarge.  When I go to close it the program, it says that it's not responding.

I've tried the following:
Removing winmx completely, then reinstalling.  Checking CA firewall rules, and windows firewall rules.

I'M running Win 7 (64b), does anyone have any idea on what to do.

'removing winmx completely' ment removing its installation directory too right? since you are on 64bit it installed in the x86 program files directory? if both are true right click a new install and 'run as admin' .... see if that helps anything...

You could also try right clicking the winmx icon in the icon tray (bottom right side of the taskbar) and choose "reset all windows" but DO make sure what Silver said ...programs x86 folder and run as administrator, don't forget to also give it administrator rights  ;)

None of the above suggestions has worked.  Let me try explaining my problem clearer.  When I try and open WinMX, only a tiny window come up showing only the logo on one side and the (- / restor / X) on the other side.  It doesn't allow me to expand the window to see what's going on.  As such I can't see if it's connected or not.  The only thing it lets me do I close the window.  When I do that, a message pops saying that the program is not responding and give me the option of either closing or waiting for the program to respond.  I clicked on wait for the program to respond, but it never did.  I've tried removing every bit of winmx and then reinstalling, didn't work.  I've run as an administrator, didn't work.  I've adjusted the exceptions in both my windows and CA securities firewall, didn't work.  I'm running Win 7 64 bit versionand I'm at a lost.  Oh, one of the people that responded suggested something about reseting the windows for WinMx, but I cant get to where they suggest, or don't know how to.  Can someone help me out.

Please try and make sure you run winmx as admin and give the complete folder administrative rights ...if you don t know how there is a stikyed topic in the w7 vista section on this forum that should give a detailed explanation (with pictures)

the sytem tray...... see the little arrow pointing upwards in the pic below? it's located at the bottom right side of your screen.... click the arrow that points up ^ ...this will open a small popup screen with a few icons in there, winmx icon should be there too if it 's running

right click that winmx icon and you get a menu ... click refresh all windows

I hope this will do the trick for you  ;)
