Error 11

Hi,

On some of my incomplete files, I'm getting error 11: sharing violation.  I know that it usually happens when the file is being accessed or edited while downloading, but that isn't the case.  Also, the files aren't listed as read-only.  I just didn't know what I could do to fix this problem.  The weird thing is that it doesn't happen on all files in my "incomplete" folder; just some.

File Error>11.when a file is Opend by another program. LIke when you try to look at the file with a player

Music Match is the worst about this.

What is often happening is that in the internal settings Music Match is set to index the files, if you have music match try this

Go to your Music Match and click on
Options > Music Library > WatchFolders > untick Enable WatchFolders.

Then restart your winmx, that should take care of this for ya...

I don't have music match.  These files are primarily .avi or .mpg.  I am trying to get a bunch of videos of live music performances, and today I just checked and there were like 50 of them with that error.

Hi Xander, the error simply means the files are in use and so winmx is unable to transfer them so perhaps its not music match in this case but another media player that indexs your files , make sure you dont have one running in the background and test this theory out.

Okay I have been doing some thinking and research on this,

Not long ago I had a problem with AVI files that I could not access, as if they were read only or in use.  So it struck me when you said these where avi's that this may be related to your problem, and even if you dont have the other symptoms ( i didnt really have them all either), this information and fix may take care of this problem for you also if your running XP.  The general nature of that particular file error might suggest that this XP bug could effect these files your working with on WinMx also.
