Its about time someone called this agency to account for their illegal appropriation and usage of a sites domain name registration.
http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/12/wyden-domain-seizure/Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) said Friday he would demand answers from the Department of Homeland Security about its domain seizure program known as Operation in Our Sites after it was revealed that the government kept a hip-hop music review site’s name for a year without affording the owner a chance to challenge the seizure.
Wyden also wants to know why there was no court record of the case, other than the initial seizure filing a year ago. “I expect the administration will be receiving a series of FOIA requests from our office and that the senator will have very pointed questions with regard to how the administration chooses to target the sites that it does,” said Jennifer Hoelzer, a Wyden spokeswoman.
Now that the sites domain name has been returned and another site won a legal challenge against a similar domain name appropriation it would seem like a really good time to answer some of the Senators questions especially as to the misusing of the stolen sites to run anti praicy ads, something the seizure laws specifically notes is not allowed, if theres a law to follow lets see it followed by
all as disrespect for both the law and the spirit of the law only leads to a path of anarchy.
