I´ve installed winmx 3.53, filled first start dialogue, changed hosts file, but WinMX doesn´t run, after double click on winmx.exe nothing appears. I´ve also reinstalled winmx, but no change. WCS works.

best thing to do is forget the hosts patch and install the already patched version of winmx, you can find it on this site

its called install 1.9 exe fix for winmx then install that in the normal way and run it, it will auto install over any existing winmx.

Which patch you use won't be affecting if the program starts or not, & while I agree install 1.9.exe has advantages, especially if you are doing a fresh install, if you still have problems, post again with some more information..

Operating system, Internet Explorer version, type of connection (dialup /cable/ dsl), any winmx add ins installed & we'll try to help.

Trying to run BendMX for WinMX 3.5x on Windows 9x/ME is known to cause this, for instance.
