Searches OK but can't download anything.

Hello,

     I have WinMX 3.54 beta with the 1.9 patch installed. The TCP and UDP ports in WinMX are set to their defaults and I have them enabled in my Netgear Router. However, every thing I try to download gets no further than the Waiting for Incoming Connection. Then it turns red cause it said it timed out. I'm thinking my ISP is blocking those ports. Does anyone thing that that is what is happening here?

Are there any other ports you can change in WinMX that would work just as well??

It could be your ISP blocking the default ports, these numbers are far from set in stone though, you can change them (within reason) to many (most) of the values between 1204 & 65535 and some below..

www.portforward.com has a page listing TCP & UDP ports for common programs, picking any value for each from that list that belongs to programs you DON'T have might get you past an ISP block.  (I suggest avoiding ones for other p2p sharing programs, they may block those too).

Also be sure your using the correct filters in your searches to weed out the fakes and make sure that the majority of results are real files..
