MXcleaner is now available for downloading from:
www.linux.interworld.net.auMXcleaner is available for 32 Bit Linux, 64 Bit Linux and 32 Bit Windows.
64 Bit Windows and/or GUI will be coded for commercial (paying) users (costs money), or code one yourself.
Is your PC clogged up with files having identical content, but different file names, different file dates, stored in the same and/or different directories?.
Download and use MXcleaner to identify and optionally remove from your PC, audio, image, video, documents and other files with identical contents, having the same or different file names and/or different file dates, partially downloaded or zero length __INCOMPLETE___ WinMX files , stored in the same or different directory trees.
How to use MXcleaner to check whether a file you want to download is already stored fully or partially downloaded and stored with a different name in your download or other directory:
1.) Familiarize yourself with the MXcleaner command line options by running "MXcleaner --help" from your Terminal or Command window.
2.) Start the download. This results in Zero length file with __INCOMPLETE___ prefixed to the file name.
3.) Run MXcleaner from the Command or Terminal Window with the required command line options.
4.) MXcleaner will after some time list all the completed files with identical contents and all incomplete WinMX having identical WinMX hash numbers.
5.) If you run MXcleaner with the '-d' option, you will be asked whether you want to delete the identical files. If you answer 'Yes', MXcleaner deletes the duplicate files.
6.) If WinMx is running and you have deleted __INCOMPLETE___ WinMX files, stop and then restart WinMx. Otherwise WinMx will again download the deleted __INCOMPLETE___ file.
NOTE:
MXcleaner remembers the last command line used. for example if use:
"MXcleaner -d ~/WinMX/downloads ~/WinMX/uploads ~/WinMX/private", MXcleaner will check the three directories and their sub-directories and offer to delete any duplicate files found.
The next time just run "MXcleaner" without any command line.
To run MXcleaner with new a new command line , run "MXcleaner [new command line].
Enjoy cleaning your hard drives of files with identical contents.,
