trying to use the alt codes

I have been trying to use the alt codes with my name but on my laptop I seem to be having problems. I hold the alt key down and type the number. I dont see anything and when i try and type a number after i only get the first second number. I have checked that number lock isnt on. Any ideas? ty ... Dusk

on a laptop you most likely will need to hold down the fn key as well

you will need to use the blue or other off-colored numbers that are mixed in with the letters... not the numbers at the top...
