I guess I didn't want to believe it at first.
MetalDude came through the wmw room and told us of IceDragons passing.
I was waiting for some kind of confirmation but I couldn't bring myself to go looking for it.
Eventually I found an obituary in his name.
I'm opening this thread up for people to leave some kind words about the man.
He was passionate about what he believed in as many would have found out.
I got to know ice fairly well over the last few years.
He was fair and reasonable, but if he thought your head was stuck somewhere it shouldn't, he'd tell you in no uncertain terms.
He was a good bloke and an amazing man who accomplished some great things in his life.
His ability and eventually his life was cut short by a series of unfortunate events.
Despite this he still strove to be the best he could.
Ice was not a big WinMxWorld fan but he had a lot of time for the community.
I will miss chatting with him about his amazing life and his counsel on winmx issues.

You will be very missed my all of us, Sure we never seen eye to eye sometimes, if you had a opinion you bore it till the end, but we we could talk about anything for hours too. Ill mis your sarcasm the most, i hope you have found peace and the pain is gone. RIP Ice

RIP Ice, have a safe journey home. Condolences to family and friends he'll be sadly missed.
Back in the patch war days i used to wake up, get my coffee and head straight to this forum to see what kind of post he had made for they day. I used to get a laugh out of his comments, but at the same time admired him for his strong beliefs and making those beliefs well known. He truly did wear his emotions on his sleeve and will be sadly missed.

I spoke with Ice too many times to count over the years, I didn't ask his real name and he never asked mine however we got on based on building trust with each other and over the last 6 years it developed into a friendship based on mutual respect.
He first bumped into me back in 2005 when the network crashed into its first hurdle, he was one of those few who used his technical knowledge to quickly assess both WinMX connection methods and made sure many others knew which was best in his expert opinion, happily that just happened to be the one we too promoted here, he fought many battles online with other characters in the community and although he was sometimes a bit harsh his words where used as a benchmark on what others where thinking, Ice never made any apologies for speaking his mind, but if he had a "bad day" due to his medication he always did the honourable thing and made amends the next time he saw you.
Ice had spoken happily of his passion for martial arts and his awards for bodybuilding before his accident but he also spoke many times of his day to day battles with the health authorities to get some assistance with the rising cost of his treatment, it made me very angry that anyone should be driven to near poverty simply to stay alive, he also spoke of how large the pain relief doses had become just to be pain free throughout each day, not only was Ice not in the well off category, the truth is he and his family was struggling each day, but amazingly he had time to help others in the chat room and walk hundreds of folks though complicated setups as well as finding time to talk though "life" matters with those who just wanted to talk, its not a bad thing to say he was a welcome and reassuring presence in the chat room whom I know we will all miss.
As with any passing a void is felt by those remaining and it may take some time for the loss of a friend to be fully comprehended, but we are fortunate to have on the forum here many small mementos of Ices character and his drive for simple honesty, a read of his posts will never fail to bring a smile and is sure to bring many good memories flooding back, rest in peace mate
My heart felt condolences go to Ices family and close friends for their unyeilding support of him, I know he was always proud of you all.

I have been trying to decide how to write this but I guess I will just say it....
You were a friend, a mentor and someone who I use to argue with others about oh I remember the arguments.. I dont know why I did but i guess I saw a pattern when the doctors changed your meds. You are going to be missed.
You told me many times to keep going with my studies which is one reason that has kept me away from winmx. However, you were not the only one! You were always asking what my reports were on. Giving me confidence to continue on.
You always laughed over the martial arts stuff toad and I told you about.
One thing that was special to you was your passion for your family and how much you loved them. You were always asking about my babes and the funny times for them growing up we shared. You were always a story teller of the kids and situations.
One thing I know is at least this way you are out of pain and suffering.
RIP Icey! The winxmx community will miss you very much.
Condollences to Icey family and friends.

It's very rare that you can call someone you have never met a friend. You don't even know their correct name or they yours. I classed Icedragon as a friend. It's with this in mind and tears in my eyes that I say, goodbye friend. All your pain is over now. Enjoy the peace and the rest.

Met Oohbug in MX in 2001, and had many a laugh with him and Metaldude, also I had plenty arguments with Bug too, but never ones that we would stop talking to each other. I stopped going into MX at the end of 2008 and kept in touch with most thru Facebook, and this is how I found out he had passed away. He lived life to the full and had experiences many of us will envy and probably never do. I remember speaking with him before he went for his first operation, and after it he was in pain and he hardly came into chat like he used to. We ALL knew he was in desperate pain, and we all tried to give him advice and to just "be there" for when he did feel like socialising.
My thoughts are with Angela andtheir family. Remember the good times, for they will far outweigh his latter days. He will be sorely missed. x

((( IceBug ))) X x X
You were a mate, a mentor and and a mixer of mire of the 1st water, and i luvved you for it. we talked cars, bikes, meds and, sometimes, even computers and the WPN. You came into your own on many occasions, each and every one of them enjoyable to witness and sometimes be a part of. I'm gonna miss ya bug... like bluey said, you were a straight up guy and didn't call a spade an agricultural earth remover... Just as you didn't in LVHC all those years ago. Condolences to all your family, including Stu, your "brother from another mother" As a french Scotsman once said "There can be only ONE!" and truly, there will never be another Icebug. Hugs m8, rest in peace and free from pain for eternity. .. . and keep a bowl and some bottles ready for when we finally get to party. XxX <3

.well guys don't know where to start here. paul was everything mentioned yes his mx heart was worn on his sleeve but he was allways more than a winmx'er .
fairdues he never shared a lot in the way of files but the knowledge and help he gave allways surpassed that..to me he was a freind and very probably the best mate anyone cld ask to have as a friend and allways someone i cld trust when times where dim..we 1st met close to 20 years ago and the guy very quickly became a good friend in the "realworld"
as we only lived down the road from each other we grew a quick repporrt he became a close friend to my entire family at the time...paul my mom and trish loved u to bits bud
bug you will be missed by many of us...i know you did wind a hell of a lot up with your blunt attitude but you only gave the attitude to ignorant and arrogant
he's a mate cause...he called a spade a spade when he seeen the spade...something that many found hard to handle...but that was bug never minced his words mate till the big party when we meet next put aside a few bongs and a cpl of jd's then we will catch up on the years we,ve missed...deepest condolances to angila kelly ryan liam....ruth..sam..dik ty know paul had alot of time for you all xx
parting note one of pauls best funnies "last person that went to parliement with honest intentions was "guy fawkes" rip mate your massively missed
