My winmx automatically shuts down these days and therefore I uninstall it and download winmxbeta4.zip. Supposedly I have to set my connection to "primary connection" but it doesn't allow me to since it says "No UDP port for incoming and outgoing packets". So what should I do now? Can anyone help? Thanks a lot!

I am having the same exact trouble. I am connected with a secondary. Pls advise.

We think we have the problem found or at least one of the problems for now and it should be fixed by tomorow.. until then
The best advise i have for now is this:

Rename your C:\Program Files\Winmx to WinMx2
Install the Install 1.9.exe for a 98/ME operating system, this will work fine on XP, however if a user is primary it will NOT block the riaa, they will need to use peer guardian with our block list found here:

Already did that. Still can't connect as a primary.

Go into your settings.....turn off TCP incoming connections...restart WinMX...this action will force a straight secondary connection.

The RIAA are flooding TCP primaries......

Until something changes this will keep you connected

....also run peerguardian 2 in case they already targeted you IP.
Especially if you have cable and limited IP mobility.
