Boston Dynamics, which contracts for the US military, is the eighth robotics company snapped up by Google this year. Both the price and size of the project, which is led by former Android boss Andy Rubin, are being kept under wraps.
However, analysts say the purchases signal a rising interest in robotics use by consumer internet companies.
We are already seeing fine robotic limbs that are something disabled folks could only dream of even just a few years ago so it seems the time for a complete self controlled "droid" is soon to be upon us, the self driving car has already been launched , can we expect this spending spree on metal based tech to be matched by new bio-engineering companies akin to those in blade runner ?
