Queue Problems
« on: August 29, 2014, 02:46:46 am »
Lately I've had queues and uploads  in progress suddenly start to disappear and my downloads that are in queue  also disappear. Like they were being erased.  I f I reboot my computer  (windows 7) I can get into queues and my upload queues will get up above 20 a lot but then they'll just drop off. Is this something new?

I AM HAVING TH E SAME PROBLEM.  STARTS WITH 70 OR S IN THE QUE, CAN UP AND DOWN LOAD, THEN IT GRADUALLY TRAILS OFF TO ZERO.  DISCONNECTING WINMX  DOESNT HELP, BUT SHUTTING WINMX DOWN COMPLETELY AND RESTARTING GETS PEOPLE CONNECTED AGAIN

INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, THE SEARCH FUNCTION SEEMS TO WORK FINE.  ITS LIMITED , AND NOT WHAT WE HAD A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, BUT THE RESULTS ARE SPECIFIC TO THE SEARCH AND NOT  THOUSANDS OF RANDOM ITEMS LIKE WE HAVE BEEN GETTING.

just got home and it happened again.  that's 4 times in 4 days.  had about 40 in the que this morning and I was qued on 4 I think.  que was empty when I got home.  disconnecting and trying to reconnect does not work, yellow light forever. shutting winmx down completely and restarting connected right up.  this almost feels like a denial of service attack, where the connection to the network itself is under attack.  the search feature works right now, not a lot with only 10 people qued up,  but specific to the search and not the data dump we've been seeing.

hope this adds something, and sorry about the all caps earlier

hope this sheds a little more light on it. and sorry about the all caps earlier

Hi David  :)

All of the problems mentioned in this topic are known to be caused by a fairly recent specific attack, I wont go into detail on whats being abused but you can thank the person responsible for making the network protocol public.

At this time the only known solution is to restart WinMX.
