new ip ranges need to be blocked...they are crashing peoples
« on: December 30, 2005, 05:06:17 pm »
ip ranges are as follows:

211.120.0.0-211.135.255.255
218.102.0.0-218.103.255.255
38.112.0.0-38.119.255.255

you can either add these ranges to you firewall or peer guardian....my members can connect to winmx again with these ip ranges blocked with no troubles. :D

the 211 range is Japan network information center
the 218 range is Pccw Limited hong kong
the 38 range is Performance Systems International Washington, DC

i believe all three are flooding udp ports in winmx.

IP ranges and 1.9 patch

How can I add these to the 1.9 patch, or are you going to do an update?

Also, silly question, but where do I get peerguardian? I never ran anythin with MX but my Norton or Stopsign. No firewall.

If you do not have a firewall wavoka, then i might suggest that you get one.  It filters out a lot of bad elements that try to gain access into your pc. also there is a tutorial and a link to get peer guardian here:                 https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/peerguardian.html

I have not determined that these numbers are a true threat..

The 38 range is a range we already block on, but only the ones that are actually seen on the wpn at this time.

The other ranges are likely to be normal primaries and its not advised at this time to block them..

when i started crashing the other night i tried several different things within winmx.... blocking this group of ranges within my firewall is the only thing that worked...

Well, we have done lots of test on these ranges and although most of the ranges on the 38.x.x.x are already blocked in Peer Guardian the combonation of these ranges does not stop the crashing..

So if its fixed ya.. then hey.. dont change it.. lol but consider yourself lucky...
