Music streaming app Tidal has been accused of inflating audience figures for two albums - Lemonade by Beyonce, and The Life of Pablo by Kanye West.
A Norwegian-language newspaper claims the move would have led Tidal to have paid disproportionate royalties to the singers' record companies at the expense of other artists.

Tidal is part-owned by Jay Z. He is Beyonce's husband and a long-term friend of Kanye West.
Tidal has denied the allegations.

When you cant trust the data from a simple streaming server somethings definitely going wrong, we dont know whether theres been manipulation or not but we do know thats theres a lot of doubt as to the integrity of the server logs and with both sides accusing the other in respect of the dats intergrity one things for certain, someones not being honest.

They're treading water. I think Jay Z was hoping Spotify, Google, Amazon or Apple would buy Tidal but it hasn't happened as all of them have their own music streaming services and they're doing massively better. Tidal is but a blip.

So they're massaging their numbers to make themselves look bigger than they really are to entice acquisitions.

That makes a lot of sense, its a shame that such games are played out in the corporate world but the potential to gain easy money seems to make folks act poorly

Apple Music Competitor Tidal Allegedly Months Behind on Royalty Payments

Multiple sources have said that Tidal has not making timely payments to "three major international companies," claims confirmed by two Norway-based labels: Propellor Records and its distributor, Phonofile, a company owned by Sony.

Phonofile CEO Sveinung Rindal said that reports of delayed payments are correct, while Propeller Recordings CEO Frithjof Boye Hungnes said the company had not been paid since October. "People are talking about withdrawing [their music from TIDAL]; I think there is a pretty upset mood," said Hungnes.
