I'll see then, for example:

Connection Type: T3+
Files shared: 173
Elapsed time online: 17:14:59
Transfer status: 1 in queue (0 of 0 available)
Apparently this only happens if the username contains special characters

Why 0 of 0 available?
It shoud be 0 of 1 (or something other) available

Where do the special characters come from?

I suspect it's somehow related to the chat rooms.
I don't think the user typed in the characters manually.

Besides, you can't send messages to such users

Hi Herbert, as you may know WinMx is the client on a globally utilised network (the WPN), as such folks will type both file names, usernames and all sorts in their native language, some of their language characters will appear as english characters and some will not, the majority of non-english users are Japanese so choosing an asian supporting font to use such as MSMincho is the way ahead if your desperate to see the characters in their native setting.

The 0- of -0 is a hack used by folks who dont want to share openly or want to choose whom they share with (if they share at all), such folks are called "Leeches", there are programs avaialble that help kick such folks out of your upload que, mx moni and leechhammer being the 2 most well known.

tip: mxmoni is better if you use chat, since leechammer will make the winmx interface 'hiccup'

The actual username is always surrounded by two similar blocks.
Each block has 5 characters and starts and ends with a carriage return
(Or looks like a carriage return)

How does this hack work?

I dont wish to go into usable information about the hack or where it originates from, there is no manual for how to use it and our policy here is to discourage its usage and for that reason I will say nothing about where to find it..

On the technical front it simply works as you have already surmised by ensuring that the upload slot is never open to allow remote downloads, if WinMx still had its original developer such hacked clients could be banned from the network.
