Spotify has joined Qustodio and Kidslox app developers in pushing for an anti trust investigation into Apple inc's online platform practices
https://www.engadget.com/2019/05/05/eu-set-to-investigate-apple-over-spotify-claims/The European Union might just believe that Spotify's complaint against Apple has some merit. Financial Times sources have claimed that EU competition commissioners have decided to launch an antitrust investigation into allegations that Apple unfairly hinders Spotify and other rivals to Apple Music through App Store policies. The investigation would start in the "next few weeks," according to the outlet.
https://www.wired.co.uk/article/apple-eu-vestager-screen-time-antitrust-competition-app-storeTwo app developers have lodged a complaint with the European Union’s antitrust authority, alleging that Apple deliberately used its control over the App Store to try and give itself an advantage over apps that competed with the firm’s Screen Time feature.
The two companies behind the complaint – Qustodio and Kidslox – both make apps that allow parents to monitor their children’s smartphone use and automatically block them from accessing apps if they exceed pre-set time limits.
It seems that speculation regarding whether on not the EU anti-trust regulator will investigate is now turning into firm fact and we can expect to see Apple on the offensive as we saw recently, I dont think being bull headed is going to help them settle the matter however.
