new patch?
« on: April 18, 2006, 04:02:39 am »
I wonder if there is new patch available for my WinMX v3.31.
When I tried to download some files in WinMX, they will turn into Yellow color.

Btw, I have tried Emule, but I found that it has to take tens of hours to download a 4MB song.
Then I decided to uninstall it.
I've never needed to take more than 20 minutes to  download a 4MB song track in WinMX.
Some said the downloading rate is determined by the Server, so I think offhand that WInMX's server should be a faster and more reliable one...

winmx is a free file sharing application, you are not downloading files from a vast array of expensive servers on fast expensive connections, you are downloading from other users home connections.

20 minutes to get a song isn't bad, it depends on the song of course, some will download straight away at the speed of an average home connection, others will go faster if they download from multiple users, others slower if there are queues or the other user has a slow connection or whatever - however remember you are getting files from other users for free, do not expect the same as if you download something from expensive servers with expensive servers

The uploading/downloading has nothing to do with the patch, that merely helps you getting connected to the network.
In both cases, eMule and WinMx, the remote "servers" are users like you yourself, so the upload speed depends on how fast they can send it to you.
eMule uses a credit system though, meaning the more you upload yourself the faster you will advance in queues and get your song.
In WinMx it doesn't matter how much you've uploaded at some other time, but some users are using add-ons like MxMonitor or Leechammer to make sure they're uploading to people that are sharing files themselves.
