Karet,

Sounds like a issue with the modem more then likely.  If its always been non functional then have a look here for instructions on forwarding ports for a router/dsl modem.

https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/routers_info.html

If this is a new problem with the uploads, then make sure you have a look at the same page as above but only the Internal IP information.  First follow the instructions for getting your Internal IP then go to your router and make sure this hasnt changed since you made the forwarding rules originally.

If thats all ok then I suggest you check your XP firewall.. its its always been in use be sure you have the ports WinMx Uses forwarded in it as per this page:
https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/firewalls-xp.html

If you dont use it normally make sure its actually off, many times something such as microsoft updates can re enable the firewall.

Let me know if this helps ya..
Its also worth mentioning that if your using the Pie patch and your a primary connection to WinMx be sure your also using Peerguardian with our block list installed to keep the RIAA from stealing your bandwidth to flood the network with fakes..

You need to check your port forwarding setup, inability to upload is a misconfigured TCP port, either not forwarded correctly, or blocked by firewall or norton AV.. also if you're using Pie patch then PLEASE install peer guardian with our blocklist...
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

hi,I used to have rogers cable but got rid of them after all the problems downloading and now have sympatico(dsl).I have zonealarm(free version),windows 98SE,norton anti-virus2004 and no router and can download now but can't seem to upload to anyone.it keeps saying timed out waiting for incoming connection.any help would be appreciated but try to not get too complicated as I don't know a great deal about computers.oh yeah, and i tried to change my port numbers but that didn't seem to help either and i also tried it with my firewall turned off but no luck there either.

Hi RobandCathy,

ZoneAlarm has been known to cause some problems with uploading, I will say that the few folks that had troubles with it uninstalled it completely and installed Sygate before they got the problem fixed, turning it off didnt help.

That said I am not really sure its your problem here, this is more then likely you DSL modem that is causing the problem.

Here is a page we wrote to help you with this and hopefully its fairly easy to understand:

Feel free to post any questions you have here along the way...

As mentioned on the link given above, many DSL modems have NAT (Network Address Translation) ability.  Meaning they act as a router.

Find your brand of modem and model number here:

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Then follow the directions and forward two ports.
One for TCP and a separate one for UDP.
