Connection Issues
« on: March 17, 2006, 12:17:04 pm »
Hi, I'm running Windows XP Home SP2,Windows Firewall,DSL1.1Mbps(Talktalk)WinMX 3.54beta,patch2.2,including fake file filter -c: -user,tried reinstall, dns flush and restoring concurrent tcp? from 10 to 50.....
And yet, connecting to primaries goes up to 5 or 6 but reverts to 0(seeking) every couple of minutes so nothing gets properly connected.
Secondary connection lasts a bit longer, about 3 or 4 minutes then back to nothing.
When a download does start, it is only very slow and soon goes to zero and times out, so I have several partially complete files that have only accumulated 4 to 40K!
I have tried specifying ports for winmx, both the default settings and adding 1 or 2 before the defaults but this doesn't help.
My Norton AV has no firewall included.

All thiis has only been happening for a few weeks, previously it was an acceptable level of up and down traffic although much less choice than before the attacks began last year.

I'm a little reluctant to speculate on what mught be happening since this is an open forum.

Any suggestions?

What ISP are you using Icarus, I checked the one you posted from and that came up as a business only iSP based in the UK and they may very well filter the whole range of p2p services, businesses after all are not usually involved in file sharing.

You could of course be at work, so let us know if this is the case.

Hi, I am currently running Windows XP and I just d/led winmx from the archives of winmxworld. The yellow light continued to blink so I went to vladd to get the new version of the patch to see if that worked and still nothing changed. I am renting this computer so i don't know about the software that is being used. Can you please assist  me in this matter. Thanks

Yes Princess,

Go here

www.winmxgroup.com/

Download either the patch only version or the full version of WinMx if you need to install a version still.

Then you should be able to get connected this way and be protecting the network too.

Hi Ghost Ship,
talktalk is not especially business oriented, its part of the Carphone Warehouse Group and is aimed at everyone AFAIK. I've been with them one year and the problems are only recent. And I'm at home(retired) with lots of time to listen!
