I had an old version of winmx for years which no longer works. I downloaded a different patch and no good. I just downloaded
the new version and patch and still no good. i do not get and search results although at the top it says " patch operational" ?
any ideas??? help please. thanks

Trado,

Search results will not work if your ports are not set up properly.. especially on a primary connection.

If you want to use a primary connection be sure if you have a router or some dsl modems that you forward the ports as per instructions here

also be sure those ports are set in the XP firewall if you use that and that WinMX is allowed in any other firewalls or worm protections you use:

then make sure you ports are set in WinMX > Settings > Incoming TCP and IN/OUT UDP.. this all set correctly should get you a working primary connection.

You will also be better off to have these configured if you want to use Secondary with ports set, as this allows you to upload and download from more users.
If you cant do these things you can always set those above mentioned ports in WinMX Settings to Unable on both and all should work in secondary mode as well.
