Hi!

I have been trying to figure out how to get my WinMX back ever since my comp crashed. I guess what you guys have will have to do me, as it seemed I got it up and running... but I swear to you that I had a more updated version than what you have... not sure if it was a third [arty that slapped a new GUI on it or what but it seems I vaguely recall that I got some notification somewhere for an update for WinMX... I had quit using because of queues and later it seemed I never got connected... I know it had to be in Dec 05 that I did this update because it wasn't long before my aunt's b-day... I had to search for some wedding music for her and I was quite pleased to use my newly modified WinMX.

I have searched and found a spyware claiming that it's WinMX 4.3... but all it it is webhancer... but the screenshots it displays looks exactly like what I was using. After I did the update the whole GUI and everythign changed.. amgically it worked and it worked great... adn I'm so sad that I lost it. It had a red box with just a W in it for the icon and the GUI was red as well, had a preview player in it as well. Any ideas where this came from orhow to get it back???

WinMX 4.x is a legend like say... the Lochness Monster maybe.. lol

There is no later officail version of WinMX then 3.54 beta 4. There are many things out there called WinMx v.something, many of them are pay subscriptions to WinMX 3.54 so yea.. rip offs, some of them are Ares or other p2p clients with a new GUI that says WInMX .. so then I ask why not just call it what it is.. why steal the name of WinMX.. its like taking the hood orniment from a jaguar and sticking it on a honda civic and saying .. look folks new jaguar wink wink... so

No there is not WinMX 4.x, if you see this its just a gimick to get you to use it. I dont trust anything that needs to lie to me to get me to download it..

There was no subscription to it and I never had any problems with it as far as spyware and such... so even if it weren't WinMX I'd like to get it back... that may lose me some points around here, but the thing worked great, dare I say better than WinMX ever worked for me. Sorry guys, not trying to start anything, just being honest.

Let me knowif any of you know what I'm talking about.

the first link you posted is a modified shareaza and the second is a modified (and extremely ugly) limewire

I would recommend trying winmx with the 3.0 patch though, as it filters the fakes which were the biggest problem with downloading on winmx, makes it much better

At www.download.com, if you search for winmx, you get something called winmx 4.2. I don't know the exact name.... Never tried it as I realised it wasn't from frontcode... This must be one of it's later versions
But can't frontcode sue them for copyright infringment. This is just too blatent, to be passed off I think... or mabye they don't for other reasons, legal and (more importantly) financial...

Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate you taking the time to look into it. And the 4.2 is the same as the 4.3... I forgot to mention that... it's nothing more than webhancer.
