If you have 2 user accounts on XP & switch between them, you should be able to set WinMX up twice in separate program folders, once from each account, the second going to C:\Program Files\WinMX2\ instead if the default, if you do this set each copy to use different ports.. I'm sure I heard somewhere that works... if I'm wrong someone is bound to correct me..
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

as bearded said, just select a different install directory - you only need to change the ports from default though if you want to run them at the same time (you use fast user switching so the other person can log on without closing your programs)

you might want to copy his bandwidth throttle settings if you're running winmx separately as i assume he'll have it set up correctly (although perhaps not) - if you plan on having both winmx's running at the same time, change both of the bandwidth throttles to half of what they are currently set to (so combined they work out the same)... should help prevent winmx lagging your connection :-)

if you do need help with the bandwidth throttles then make sure both winmx's are closed and go to https://www.winmxworld.com/scripts/bandwidth/ - if you're running both winmxs at the same time then halve the values it gives you and set them both to that

it isn't always a major issue with just 1 winmx but if you get more than 1 then it is important to get the throttles set correctly
