You are right to be very concerned Mac, the policy Intel has adopted is thoroughly anti-consumer, and so far they have lied about it when asked, they call it by another name but its DRM technology alright.
For the moment the solution is simple Boycott all intel chipset motherboards intended for use with a Vista O/S, the DRM will only be able to be implemented via this route so far, as regards Apple Platforms being in trouble, It is my understanding that the system has already been shown to have O/S flaws allowing it to be bypassed.
Most users wishing to show support for those companies not selling the consumer out should purchase non Intel Processors ( AMD is a good buy
) and demand only motherboards that do not contain the Intel 945 Chipsets or derivatives, personally I would
give Intel anything a miss for selling us out.
Here are some older links to fill in some of the background on this "DRM by stealth" Method Intel and MS ( Vista O/S ) have slowly been implementing.

https://forum.winmxworld.com/index.php?topic=2208.0.htmlAs you can see they are slowly waiting to for users to upgrade to new motherboards and operating systems and then when they choose to implement a small software change your machine can decide on what content it will be allowed to display or process, regardless of your choice, you are no longer in charge of your own machine and the power they have is capable of stopping you installing a non-official update to a program, programs by third party vendors could dial home without consulting you as the XP WGA does, and my other concern is purchasing an entirely new type of video display is required if you want to watch a dvd in the HD quality, if you dont buy a "special" DRM infested video card then your playback display is degraded on purpose, making a purchase of a high quality dvd look like a pirate rip off.
Nice monopoly moves huh folks, what special card will be "required" next, and who will control what you place on
your machine ?
