Author Topic: Cant get any search results or channel lists on primary (Read 2062 times)

i dont have a router, just cable modem....windos security center is completly disabled....i use sygate firewall, still get no results even when its turned off....my av is avast, i still get no results when its turned off....i have tried changing ports, still no results....

any suggestions?

No search results & no channel list says something is blocking udp, if you've elminated router (not having one) & sygate (by turning off) then windows firewall is next most likely culprit, try enabling it configuring it in case it turns back on & disabling it again.

You could perform a check to at least see whether your TCP port is showing as open. Change the port value to whatever you use in the following URL and click it: http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=6699

If you're not getting search results/channel lists back on primary I'd suspect the UDP port is blocked in some way. Though the above URL won't work for UDP, it should at least validate your TCP port. If the TCP port is showing as closed then to me it'd suggest something is denying inbound connections to your system. If the TCP port shows as open, then... hmm, not sure really.

windows security center is completly disabled on my computer, when i made my own install disk, i completly disabled windows security center

and as for the ports, it says my port is open and working, and i have tried nearly a hundred different ports and still no good

Out of interest what does WinMX generally show at the top of the window for P= S=, and what's the 'Allocated Bandwidth' set to in WinMX > Settings > WinMX Peer Network.

it usually shows p=7 s=0 and spm=1507 or somthing like that...and for the allocated bandwidth, i have it set to 10kb out and 15kb in

I'm not sure what to suggest though P=7 does appear to indicate inbound UDP is blocked.

erm.. well you could try installing windows the normal way, so components you need to configure it's security are actually present....

Do your uploads function or are those also timing out?

The problem is still UDP related, there is obviously something in a bad way somewhere, can you try the sfc/scannow method in a windows dos box to check the system files are valid, after that create a new WinMX folder in program files and reinstall the whole program and patch from the winmxgroup site ( do not use the old folder ), let us know how you got on.
