new patch and old host
« on: September 29, 2005, 04:31:51 am »
I am running a primary 12 hours per day to help.

I see there is a new patch (Sept 28).

1) Before using the new patch, should I revert back to the original host file by replacing the split host file from a few days ago? Or does it not matter?

2) I run v3.31. Any issue staying with it?

3) Share or not share right now?

I wll await your w98 patch but appreciate answers to questions above.
Thanks

1) makes no difference really, although the patch when run will offer to do it automatically just to clean up your system :-)

2) in theory it will work with any winmx client, of course that is just a theory :-) (only includes those using DNS lookups to locate the peer caches, those using fixed IP Addresses are a different matter alltogether...)

3) that is the question... with a simple answer, share everything you have :-)

Thanks guys.  I'll revert back to the old host file once the new patch is available in windows 98 for me.

Is there a need to still run peer guardian with the new patch?

Because the blocklist is very accurate now, if your using winmx only then there is no need, but as its fairly mild on the ram nowdays I leave mine humming away.
