Everytime I find a file I want and try to download it, it sits there for ages then goes red saying timed out.
i have put my self back on secondary connection now as nothing at all was downloading from primary even though i have told my router the port numbers etc.  please advise.

Hi Mark,

Which patch are you using atm?  What does it say at the top of your WinMX in the update bar?
It could be that your finding fakes if your not using the latest WinMX Group patch from here:

If you do have this installed then it maybe a port issue. 

Do you get a full channel list when on primary for Chat? Or do you get search results?
Do your uploads also time out?
Do all downloads turn red?

If you have the latest patch already installed your WinMX update bar should say Patch Operational.
If it does say that then can you give the information asked for here please and we'll  try to see whats going on.

hi, thanks for replying.
i have the latest version from the website and my winmx says patch operational.
At the moment i havent got any uploads in the bottom of my screen.
not all downloads go red, i do manage to get some files but they are very few and far between.
i suppose out of 100 i would probably be able to download about 8-9.

i don't seem to have a problem searching for files it's just getting them to start downloading.

I am using windows xp but i have recently changed my broadband over to BT and i am using a BT Home Hub - wireless.
I do not know where the settings are on this to change the port numbers so i can go back to primary.
hope i have covered all the info you need to assist me.

Hi Mark,

Ok here are the instructions for your BT Hub

Once you have done this your Windows XP firewall (if its in use, good idea to check this manually) will also need to be configured to use the right ports.

Once these are complete you should be able to get a primary that is working properly, if not you can post back here or feel free to stop by the help room for live assisance

Copy and paste that into the Filter bar of your WinMX after you click on the chat button, and click Join to the far right.

Someone can help you test this there if you like.
