can't support chinese character any more?
« on: August 15, 2006, 04:02:20 pm »
I know WInMX doesn't use resources from Windows library, so I simply copy the WInMX folder from my
Win98 to WinXP.

Evertything works just fine for me, I can connect to WinMX files sharing servers.; but when I try to enter words of chinese (Big5), they just become unreadable sybmols, like this ??[]??..

Please tell what I should do!

Are there settings in WinMX application that can help me solve this problem?

^^^^^^ So does this tutorial . Please have a look. Just (mentally) put Chinese instead of Japanese everywhere. That's all

Cheers :P

if you had another version previously & installing 3.54 stoped you connecting, then the commonest fix is to remove the rules for winmx from your firewall & then re allow it, many will block when the exe changes.. the xp firewall in particular seems to do so without giving you the option to allow the change, most other firewalls ask.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

As recommendated by WInMX world, I installed Sygate.
Sygate is really useful and user-friendly.

I am now using AVG and Sygate in my WinXP SP2 Home.

Now that you have sygate, see if the windows firewall is still on. If it is on, then turn it off. Having two firewalls can always cause a mess. Disable it and  keep sygate.
