Winmx keeps restarting and nothing comes up on searches

Winmx has been working great for several weeks but now a couple of minutes after the light turns green, the connection status goes back to yellow and starts again.  Also, I have to wait approximately ten minutes before anything will come up on a search.  Now tonight, after a couple of hours of trying, I haven't been able to get even one search.  It just sits there saying waiting for results.  I'm using 3.54 beta 4.  Any ideas?

ok, this could be caused by not having the winmxgroup patch and by using peer guardian - there have been several issues lately with peer guardian causing people to be unable to use winmx, if that is the case then install the patch from www.winmxgroup.com and remove peer guardian and see if that fixes it

if that's not the case then let us know, jut simpler to try the most likely problem first

I uninstalled Peer Guardian but still didn't have any luck.  So I started from scratch and reinstalled Winmx and now everything seems fine.  But, I thought I read in this forum that we need Peer Guardian to block the RIAA.  Is this no longer true?  I'm on secondary connection.  Thanks.

no, peer guardian is not needed if you have a patched winmx, however for unpatched winmx (most places you download from other than winmxgroup.com) peer guardian is "better than nothing" blocking for flooders - it's not effective, but still "better than nothing"... if however you have a patched winmx then peer guardian does nothing (except block millions of legitimate users - i wish that was an exudation, but it includes so many legitimate users... it even includes winmx cache servers)
