Hello folks...a couple of queries if you dont mind.

Lately, maybe over the last week or so, I seem to be having a problem with downloads timing out. Theres always been connections timing out, it just seems recently that it seems to be quite a few of them. Any ideas?

Secondly, my isp recently upgraded my connection speed, doubling it. My downloads were topping at around the 115/120 K/s and uploads at just under 30K/s. Now was I wrong in thinking that a doubling of my connection speed would also double these figures? Or is there some settings I need to change?

I thank you in advance for advice

                                                                           Sean

Connections indeed do tend to time out sometimes, as long as it's not ALL (which indicates a port problem) then about all you can do is visit WinMX settings & increase the timeout values.

There are many factors influencing your speed on winmx, the biggest one when you have a fast connection is how fast whoever you're downloading from can supply data to you (their upload speed), if this was unlimited then you would expect download speeds to double, however, in most cases it's a lot less than their (or your) maximum download speed.  Also when my ISP recently doubled my download bandwidth, they only made a marginal increase in my maximum upload speed, so my uploads didn't increase by that much... something similar may be happening here.

About the only setting that could influence this is your bandwith throttle settings, which (if set) may need new values specified.. I suggest visiting here: https://www.winmxworld.com/scripts/bandwidth/
to determine your optimum settings
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

Are you the Sean that was having trouble with Zone Alarm--UseGlo0balNamespace...?  If you are I would appreciate an email as to how you solved the problem.

Thanks

Al
