A tip and a question

Tip: Even if you use LeechHammer or MxMoni to deal with non-sharers, something else may be worthwhile...

Leechhammer especially copes with '0 files shared' type leeches, as well as '0 of 0 slots' hack users, but sometimes it may be worth your while to browse a user, especially if they seem to have only a few shared files, more so if they have been online over an hour or so, and have all slots (if any) open. You may find that all you see is their recieved files folder, with a bunch of incompletes (where are you hiding the rest, you bastard?)

Other leechy scumbags may simply share a random folder from somewhere on their system. Why would anyone want to share a bunch of .exe and .dll files from their operating system? It gets them past the 0 files shared detection, but human eyes can see what Hammer or Moni cannot...

Question: Is there an easy way to stop my queue getting clogged by people all wanting large files? It can get a bit irritating to see all your slots being hogged by users downloading 500+mb movie files, while the ppl wanting a 3.5meg song wait... and wait... and wait...and wait its even worse when u see their tranfer rate is less than1kbps, and the d/l is gonna take in excess of 30 hours, and you just know they have probably got 15 or 20 or more other downloads running...

Try reducing the no of simultaneous downloads so that the downloads move faster and your queue moves faster...
I have a 256 k connection.
So I open two slots for anyone in winmx (Settings >queuing)
And in mx moniter, I start any file that is less than 25 mb automaticially.
I keep the no of slots as 3 there....
See if that helps....
Yeah sometimes mp3 downloaders can be a bit slow, so that's why you can make an extra slot in those cases, I recommend that you kee 10 slots for anyone, and three or four for mp3's [in settings queuing, set the max uploads to 10. Then in mxmoniter, set it to 14. Put 26500 in that for for auto start if files is less than ...... check that box and I think that you should be done

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

I also have MXMonitor set to auto-start small files (aka mp3s), it does solve that problem

for the problem of people sharing rubbish to get past a 0 file block, i use the upload stats for deciding if someone is a leech or not, rather than requiring more then x files, i require that they have active uploads - that way if they have 1 popular file shared then they are allowed to download from me (they are sharing after all) but if they have 1000 junk files shared they get treated like the leeches that they are (and get cleared + ignored)... works well

I did the same as km until i noticed, there are people sharing lots of rare high quality mp3 on high speed connections, which tend to start immidiately because they ususally have no on in their queue.

Maybe because most ppl rather prefer small sizes than high bitrates.

Especially if someone shares rare stuff like classical music or oldies from the 40s or 50s, there aren't many to queue up and chance is, there are no uploads running because everyone doing so will be served immidiately and rather fast.

I also dislike ppl ending up in my blocklist which just started their connections and in this case could be queud up by automatic search before anyone had a chance to queue up on their system.

That's why i disabled ignoring those with zero uploads.

So there is no way to handle those sharing rubbish without also hitting some high valued sharers.

Btw i'm unpleased with those only sharing their incompletes too, but on the other side, they speed up the network and add their capability, so they shouldn't be treated same way as those pure leechers sharing nothing or just rubbish.

Just my 2 cents
still somehow freightened when i shall get inserted
