WinMX and IE7
« on: September 24, 2006, 05:12:06 pm »
Hi all I'm new so forgive me if it's been asked before.

I installed WinMX a long time ago and have used it's services, greatfully sharing whatever I had although at first it was dialup so  slow, ( great site by the way).
Then I installed IE7 recently and every time I tried to use WinMX I got...Critical Error please tell M$.so I went back to IE6x.

Naturally I did not but I was wondering if this is a thing of the future and if so will MX work with Vista or will there be a way around this.
I also found that with IE6x I could connect directly on adsl but with IE7 i had to use secondary connection.

Up until June the patch from WinMX Group (2.x series) didnt work with IE7 however I am happy to say that the 3.0 series does work with no problem along side IE7.. any issues with it while the 3.0 patch is istalled appear to be IE7 related and not in our control..

If you not using the latest patch from www.winmxgroup.com   grab it and install then retry your IE7 if you like.. shoud be fine from a WinMX view point..  :)

Thanks Me Here;

I was running with the patch 2. Have done as you suggested and downloaded 3.
Still I am a bit wary about IE7 and Vista, the security seems to have been upped greatly. When I ran a Beta of vVista it identified all M$ progs that did not have legit serials!! to a lot that use the net for good purposes ( AHEM!) that could prove a problem.

However, i'm just soooo happy to be able to use Mx again, in my mind the best and cleanest share around.

Thanks again for the info.

hi, i used to have IE7, then i realised that some things was being blocked and alot of downloads was blocked for pop-ups when it was letting the usual pop-up crap u hate through to anoy u
i uninstalled IE7 and i use firefox now, it doesnt use activeX controls (addware would hitch a ride on activeX because you need it foe IE7) so no more activeX  i find my adware killer is almost redundant through not being able to kill anything and my pc boots up alot faster, i can close the room, then do a clean-up removing cookies etc and then re-boot and it will have reopened the room in aprox 4 mins and my pc isnt that big or fast, 180G H/D & 512RAM so when i had IE7 to re-boot took 4 mins on its own without a clen-up,
