Author Topic: I Don't Get Uploads Anymore (Read 2463 times)

This has been bothering me for a long time, so I hope those who read this will hopefully give me some input. Have any of you noticed that the amount of uploads you get for your files in the past year or so has drastically dropped? I'm still sharing the same stuff, if not more when I 'get an idea in my head', but yet I can have winmx on for hours on end & maybe see one upload, but yet when I go on other networks, I have an upload within seconds when I turn it on. A year or so ago, I felt like a contributor, now I feel totally useless on winmx. Heck, I tried out emule about 3 weeks ago (I did not like it) Anyways, at one point I saw over 200 people waiting in que to download from me. I don't consider myself to have files that people don't want. People on other networks want them from me, why not this one? I like to collect music videos from the 70's & 80's, alot of it rare & I have alot of common things as well. Comments please?

I my case I feel there has been an increase

Typicially I never saw as many people downloading from me six months before as they do now.
Winmx did lost a good deal of it's users when it went down. So yes, if you compare with what it was last year, the you'd definately see a dramatic change in it. But it does seem to me to be getting somewhat better. You might want to connect to some opennap servers. That may increase your uploads decently.

My problem is I see a lot ot weird charachters (literally) both downloading and uploading. Are these people like from China or some foreign country?

Japan is the commonest location for those to be from, WinMX is very popular in Japan

They are using a different character code set on the computer they have. What you see is the html conversion of the byte that carries the character that shows up, in a range of 1 - 256 (picky people say 0-255), this includes what is called the extended character set.

Do you have a sneaking paranoia there are command codes buried in those names?
