User search - Is it possible?

Is there a way I can search for a specific user in order to DL or browse his/her files?

For instance, in the past, I've DL'd from RandomUser and liked their music selection. Today I'd like to see if they've added anything to their library that I might be interested in (they aren't in my Hotlist file, etc). Is there a way to find RandomUser? A search function or something? I've tried typing in RandomUser with "Open New Search" but it doesn't work for me.

unfortunately there is no way to search for a specific user on WinMX.  WinMX assigns a new number to you everytime you sign in.. one of the reasons your Hotlist isn't perminate either ...

There is a trick that I have seen ppl try to use..

Its a complete shot in the dark approach, and unless both parties are doing it, it wont help you with this issue...Know the feeling of loosing those great sharers out there.. lol

Some ppl have made text files with their user names on them and renamed them from
UsersName.txt to UsersName.mp3

This makes it possible for WinMX to locate them.. sometimes..

Keep in mind this is a huge network with at least  6 different Peer caches to be hooked up to and millions of users at any one time. .  :shock:

I like Me Here's approach because it *can* work whenever the user is online. And if you don't get the wanted results, you can always disconnect and reconnect to different primaries (and hope for the best).

Meeting up in a channel is the surest way of finding that person, but not everyone uses channels and there won't be one single channel that everyone will be in. This would be pretty interesting if it existed though.

I managed to find my bot with an all-file 'mxcontrol' search ... And I found many people are using way old MXC progs =/
