UPLOAD PROBLEMS
« on: March 22, 2025, 03:46:13 pm »
Hello all,

I seem to be able to download files fine but when people try to upload from my library 95% get timed-out messages.  I am in the UK with a combined Zen Fritz!Box 7530 Router/modem and a fast 900Mbs connection.  I'm running Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge. I run a secondary connection to the network as when I try to connect to a primary connection, I get the error message 'No TCP port for incoming connections and No UDP port for incoming and outgoing packets'  :(  Any help would be very much appreciated.

How do I configure port forwarding on my Fritz!Box 7530?
To configure port forwarding on your Fritz!Box 7530, log in to the router's web interface and navigate to "Internet" > "Port Sharing". Click "Add Rule" to create a new port forwarding rule, and then enter the necessary information, including the port number and the IP address of the device you want to forward the port to

You would have to make 2 rules, 1 for TCP (6699) by default.... and a 2nd one for UDP (6257) by default

That is so kind Reef, and I really appreciate your response.  As someone very new to this sort of configuration, so further questions I fear.
1. How do I know what the Port Number is (is it 6699?)?
2. The IP address, would this be for my PC, which is what I use WinMX on?
3. I don't know what TCP and UDP are, but this doesn't matter if all I have to do is create two rules which are identical except for the 6699 and 6257 numbers, does this sound correct?

Many thanks again,  Jeremy.

Methods to find your internal IP address:

    Using Command Prompt:

Open Command Prompt: Click the Start icon, type Command Prompt in the search bar, and click the Command Prompt app.

Type the command: Type ipconfig and press Enter.
Find the IPv4 Address: Look for the line that says "IPv4 Address" and the corresponding IP address will be displayed   This will be the IP you use to create the rule for
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WinMX requires tcp and udp ports to be set and by default it uses 6699 and 6257 for these ports. So you make 1 rule and select TCP for the protocol and use 6699 (sometimes its recommended to use a higher port such as 26699. You would also need to change the default port in winmx settings if you do not use the default).  Then create another rule using the same IP as earlier and select the UDP protocol and use the port 6257 or again go higher using 26257. i would try using the default ports then u dont have to mess with winmx settings. If you do go with higher ports just remember winmx requires a restart before the port changes will take effect. If done correctly you will be able to select Primary connection if you choose to. Good luck hope this makes sense to you lol  :)

P.S. if it requires you use rule names you could simply use winmxtcp and winmxudp

That is SO kind and helpful Reef,
I'll try this over the weekend and let you know how I get on... :D
Many thanks,  Jeremy.
