Trouble With WinMX Connecting
« on: December 01, 2006, 01:35:59 am »
Hello,
I recently bought a new computer and am running Windows XP. I have DSL internet connection. I have tried downloading various versions of winmx and during intial set up when it tests internet connection the test fails. I have tried disabling firewall, opening ports and now I haven't a clue how to get winmx to connect  when I first open the program. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No matter how long I wait it will not establish a network connection.

Hi rentyn :)

Welcome to the site.

Download winmx from here and install it. Then see what happens and post here.

https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-3.0-MultiVer.exe

Just reminding two things:
Forward the ports (You have done that)
ALllw winmx in any firewalls that you might have. But turn the firewall back on after you had truned it off. Firewall is a must have for a safe computer.

Cheers :P

*Edit(Sam) Typo
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

Spread the word now :)

also if you were playing about with the setup wizard then go in to Settings > Outgoing TCP Connections, and just check it is set to not use a proxy, as several people have tried playing with that setting to get it to pass the inbound tests, and doing so just completely breaks any chance of it connecting (unless you are actually using a proxy which is unlikely)
