I just upgraded to 3.54 beta 4 and when I re-shared my files, I noticed that none of my hidden files are showing as shared. This was not the case with the rpevious version I was running. Is this just a missed oportunity in the beta version, or am I mising something?

Im not sure what you mean by hidden files.. or why someone would share the types of files that are normally hidden, however either way sharing with the new beta WinMX is a bit different so have a look through this guide. Most folks prefer it when they get to know it better.

Perhaps you may have set windows to show hidden files, which Ithink get shared. Go to conrtol panel > folder options and click the view tab
click hide hidden files option there.

Thanks for the replies. Actually, any file can be designated as hidden if you don't want it to be visible or acessible to casual snoops. I keep some of my files hiden in this manner so that nobody can be exposed to inappropriate material accidentaly.

With past versions of WinMX I could share whole directories, then turn off hidden files and nobody looking in my computer could see them but they were still browse-able and share-able to WinMX users. I was just wondering if that is still possible with this new build.

Any suggestion on where to go to find out how? The FAQ and user manual don't touch on this subject

You can go to a random room and browse yourself and then exit from the room.
When you browse yourself, you can check if you have the files shared or not.

Hi Gone4Now,

Since this is the first time Ive heard of anyone wanting to share hidden files I just assumed you already new how. As long as you set it like you did for your previous version it should work the same is what I meant above.

Just make sure the right file types are also part of your Search > Shared file types. And it should work just like it did before.. how ever you did it..lol

you could always also rerun thre installer if you have or download the multiver one & run that, that way you can revert to 3.53 i'm afraid i can't give you specifics on the 3.54 version as i dislike the new library & have only had it installed for minutes for testing purposes, but i can assure you 3.53 works beautifully with the dll patch
