Hey all, would be very grateful for helpful answers as I want this rare file very much.
in order to be able to solve this problem and as this is a somewhat complicated situation I'll try to describe the issue as accurate and clear as possible and give full information. I'm using winmx 3.54 beta with mxmonitor, (i tried on 3.53 same thing happens), windows xp 3.1 ghz standard computer. I've reinstalled and reloaded my winmx library several times. I have the newest winmxpie etc.
The issue is I'm trying to download a file from a user, but whenever I try, it tries to connect for a while (yellow text), then turns red and says File/User unavailable. Now, this could probably mean various things such as he put me on ignore (monitor) and you know what others. However, I am sure he does NOT have me on ignore because I can download other files from him and it's working fine.
I am also 99% sure it is not a fake file, i really am. Could it be that he has some sort of hash problem or that the file is still indexed in his library, visible for me but he doesnt have it anymore (deleted, gone or whatever).
More over, I had this file a month back but then my harddisc crashed and I had to try get my computer back and working. When I started up winmx that time, I noticed that even if my harddisc was broken, my files on it was still "shared" on winmx in the index, saying I had them hashed in my library (XYZ gig) but no one could download those specific files from me.
Since i wanted to try and retrieve those files I lost, I located myself and then browsed me and clicked on the ones i had lost (receiving message file/user unavailable) so I then had the incompletes so I could start searching for other users that had them so i could get them again.
I find it a very strange co-incidence that when I try to download EXACTLY THAT file from him, and no others (as ive been dling and testing hundreds of thousands of other files) and iit says file/user unavailable which is exactly what it did when my disc crashed. Could it be that my computer has a "setting saved" that this file should say file/user unavailable or am I just being superstitious?
Is there something i can do to go around this problem?
The guy im trying to get the file from doesnt speak English so I can't communicate with him in any way (which sucks, then i would have known the problem).
